Procedure for
"médecin surnumeraire”
1. Diploma visa and document recognising the title of doctor

Documents required: copy of identity card, copy of diploma with court-certified translation into french, copy of criminal record (less than three months old) with court-certified translation into French at the court, letter of motivation in French, completed form "Formulaire de demande de reconnaissance professionnelle pour le titre de médecin" (to be found on the above-mentioned site).

2. Registration with the Belgian Medical Association

Documents required: copy of identity document, diploma visa, good standing from the medical association with which you are registered with a court-certified translation into french, court-certified translation in french of criminal record, curriculum vitae in french, ID photo, letter of confirmation from the receiving chief physician, completed form A (attached in PDF)

A language certification (C1) in French is now mandatory:
beware of that.
3. Obtaining an INAMI number
Required documents: diploma visa, document of registration with the medical association, completed form B (PDF attachment)

After obtaining these documents (cost between 100 and 150 euros), you are officially entitled to work in Belgium.
​
In addition, a guarantee of remuneration from the sending university will be required (a letter from your head physician/specialty director is sufficient) and a copy of your insurance policy including work accidents.

"médecin visiteur”
1. COLLECT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS
The following documents are required

Form "bulletin de reinsegnement" (sent by e-mail by the secretary)

Copy of translated diploma

Curriculum vitae

Copy of insurance policy (the hospital does not cover accidents at work)
