Before arriving
Here you will find the steps to prepare your fellowship, including defining your internship status (clinical and/or research) and completing the required administrative procedures.
Early planning is essential to ensure a smooth start!

Defining the type of internship
Clinical and research, or research only?
In general, whatever activity you wish to carry out, you must apply to be recognised as a "medicin surnumeraire" or as a "medicin visiteur".

To carry out clinical activity, you must apply to be a "surnumeraire", as you become a full member of the Belgian health system with an assignment of an INAMI number (see the section "register as a medical doctor").

To carry out research-only activity, it is sufficient to be a 'visiteur'. However, it is possible to participate in clinical activity indirectly as an observer with the title of 'visiteur'.
Organising the bureaucratic aspects
Contact the secretary to inform her of your arrival, specifying the duration of the period itself and the type of internship you wish to perform.
The secretariat will then contact you with the various procedures to be carried out according to the type of application.

If you wish to extend your stay or have your mail hub remain active, you must notify the secretary Mme Karine about 2 months in advance.
